Getting a Las Vegas Budget Room

When you think about staying in Las Vegas for multiple days, the first and most obvious idea is to stay in one of the huge hotel casino complexes. This may be the best option if you do not mind spending most of your time at the same place, but it might not be a good idea if you want to spend a lot of time exploring various places. Many of the hotel casinos are more than merely hotels with casinos, but represent whole resorts with all sorts of attractions and services designed to discourage you from going elsewhere and spending money elsewhere. Therefore if you really want to get out and explore many different places if might be a good idea to stay in one of the many budget hotels that are close to the Las Vegas Strip.

How Important is Your Room to You?

While most hotels restrict access to their hotel amenities - like the swimming pools - to registered guests of the hotel casino, for the most part the other leading attractions like the casino, the live shows, and events are all open to the general public. If you have your mind set on one particular place or attraction, staying at the associated hotel may give you some addition perks or discounts, but otherwise there is no real reason to stay at any particular hotel casino. In fact, if you like to explore and compare the various places, you may well save a lot of money by staying at one of the many smaller budget inns and hotels that are to be found on and around the Las Vegas Strip.

The massive hotel casinos are constantly engaged in a struggle to keep all of their rooms full in order to meet their enormous overhead expenses. This means that there is constant downward pressure on prices for hotel rooms in Las Vegas. Therefore the small budget places - hotels, inns, lodges and motels - are forced to price their rooms extremely low in order to entice any visitors at all except during a few peak times. This means that more often than you can get a truly excellent deal for a decent, no-frills room at one of these budget locations on or near the Las Vegas Strip. Due to the competition from the hotel casinos, these prices are often well below the national average for a comparable room.

Some Tips for Getting the Best Deal

Every savvy shopper knows that it pays to shop around and compare prices before committing and this is most assuredly true when it comes to trying to find a good deal on a hotel room in Las Vegas. In fact, all the various hotels - from the major hotel casinos resorts all the way down to the budget places - all have their own unique circumstances, so it is entirely possible that you can get a luxury room for a budget price if you are lucky. It also helps to see if other companies you are dealing with offer any sort of associated discount. For example it is not uncommon to discover that your airline offers a discount at one of the hotel casinos and this might make the difference between staying at a high end place or a budget inn.

If you have the nerve to ask for them, you can also get a lot of additional bargains - like discounts, coupons, room upgrades, and other perks - simply by asking for them. Many hotels will usually give someone an automatic discount just for asking for it. Further, most of the hotel staff is paid low wages, so generous tipping while asking for particular perks can pay off as well. This is particularly true when asking for a complimentary room upgrade since the desk staff usually have that option available and do not receive many "tips" in the course of their jobs. For these kinds of "on the ground" bargains, really all you need is the nerve to ask and since the worst thing that can happen is they deny your request, in the end there is really nothing much to lose by trying.
