Servicing Serviced Apartments

The finest recommendation for a serviced apartment is to have a reputation of excellent service. To maintain a high level of excellence in service is to have good training and reinforcement of training at frequent intervals. The satisfied and delighted guest repeats the story to his friends and to his fellow travellers as he moves about and to his colleagues at his place of work. Nothing is better than word of mouth.

One of the best recommendations for a Serviced Apartment is to be said of it that it has an excellent Service. This one dimension soars above all others such as location, ambiance, decor and pricing. A pleasant mannered staff and a welcoming style put the guest at ease and make him feel at home.

And after this initial response when the guest recognises that his wishes are anticipated, his preferences are registered and remembered when he repeats a visit, his loyalty to the Serviced Apartment is assured. For example a good and pleasant surprise is for a guest, tired by his travels, who comes to find his registration details are filled in the required forms and all he has to do is to place his signature at the appropriate spot. Everything has been done in advance for him before he checks in.

Training of the staff who interact with the Guest is a very important aspect of operations and the Owner or Manager must always be alert to this. Training is a continual process and inevitably some slackness comes about after an interval of a few months. Reinforcing the training and constantly watching the behavior of your staff is a sine qua non for the success of running a Serviced Apartment.

Many guests who come repeatedly develop preferences for rooms. Some have a favorite floor and a favorite room. It could be the room size and its furnishings and fittings; it could be the art piece on the table or the painting on the wall or even the manner in which the sunlight streams in in the mornings. These characteristics define the personality of the room which has made itself a friend of the guest and he enjoys returning to the same atmosphere every time he visits this city.

If he has enjoyed an excellent service, if that service has delighted him and if he remembers it for a long time he will tell the story to his friends, to his fellow travellers when he moves about and to his colleagues at work who are likely to travel to this city. There is nothing better than word of mouth for a superb advertisement.

Fab And Fun Hotels In Viva Las Vegas

If you were asked to name somewhere that contained showbiz, glamour, world class entertainment and just the right about of cheesy glitz there is little choice other than Las Vegas. It's like nowhere else on earth and certainly worth a visit, so whether you are looking for the perfect fun filled vacation, to get married or to show your skills in the casino halls, Las Vegas will fulfill your expectations and more!

The hotels in Las Vegas are unlike any anywhere else. For example, the hard rock hotel has a ten floor high electric guitar leaning against it, the Bellagio stands in front of a fountain that shoots water up to sixty foot in the air, there are countless places to stay with themed rooms and restaurants and of course, Casinos, that fill the Lobby's and basements of many of the hotels.

There are not many who have not heard of the world famous Caesar's Palace and it is not without reason. This stunning hotel boasts two restaurants, three wedding chapels, ballroom, three swimming pools, a beauty salon, its own mini shopping mall, burlesque show, performance stage... I could go on! In short, Caesar's Palace is possibly the most extensive and impressive Hotels in Vegas, but it is certainly not the only one with these kind of additions.

If you do have this kind of hotel in mind, but can not quite manage to cover the costs of Caesar's Palace, you need not worry, because there are other options. They may not exactly be considered 'cheap hotels' but they will certainly chisel a few zeros off your bill.

The MGM hotel is situated directly off the strip, and hosts many of the same features Caesar's Palace offers, just at a smaller scale (but this reflects well on your wallet). You can easily find rooms in the MGM for as little as £90 per person, per night, which is an insane bargain for the size and luxury of the rooms. Something the MGM does offer than nobody else can is a Lion Enclosure which features the descendants of Leo, the original icon of the business.

I would certainly advise looking at what Las Vegas considers to be "budget" hotels, because compared to anywhere else they are out of this world, even if perhaps next to their big brothers they are not. Las Vegas is at the end of the day, all about splashing out and going a bit further than you usually do, but the good news is, you can do this without splashing out on your savings!

10 Things You Need in Your Hotel Room

If you regularly travel and stay in hotel rooms then perhaps you'll know what to expect in a hotel. If you haven't stayed in a modern hotel room for a while, or are looking for a more luxurious hotel for a change, then perhaps you don't know exactly what sort of thing you want and need.

Here's what you need to think about.

1. You'll want a nice comfortable looking bed and extravagant linen. What about Egyptian cotton sheets in soothing and relaxing colours and a firm but inviting mattress? You'll be able to get a good night's sleep in a nice bed.

2. You'll want satellite TV that you can see from anywhere in the room, so that you can catch up with the news, or watch your favourite programme.

3. If you're staying in a hotel room in business, then you'll want wi-fi internet access so that you can carry on with your work without needing to leave your room and going to an internet café. If you're staying for pleasure, wi-fi will be useful so that you can upload your photos to your social networking sites, or check your email or find out about local events and see what else you need to do in the city.

4. You'll definitely need refreshments, and so a selection of hot beverages such as tea and coffee will be most welcome.

5. If you're looking to spend time working, or even if you just want to do your hair before you go out, then you'll make good use of a desk and chair in your room.

6. If you're staying in a hotel for a special event such as a wedding or a birthday, or even just for a business meeting, then you'll want to look your best, so a trouser press and iron will be essential. You'll want an ironing board so that you can iron your clothes properly, and make sure that you look amazing.

7. The bathroom can make or break a hotel room, and so you'll want to make sure that your room has a nice clean bathroom, and thick fresh towels.

8. If you're staying longer than a couple of day, you'll want to make sure that there is plenty of storage for your clothes and other items.

9. You'll want to make sure that the hotel you choose is welcoming, looks comfortable and will help you relax.

10. The room décor will help set the mood of the room, and so you'll want to make sure that the colours are right and paintings on the walls look good, and are of high quality.

Now you know what you need in your hotel room, you'll have everything you need, no matter how long you're staying, or the purpose of your stay.

The Best Caribbean Hotels List is Topped by the Atlantis

When it comes to choosing from the many Caribbean hotels available, there is one that looks like a lot of fun and that is the Atlantis on Nassau's Paradise Island. This stunning Caribbean beach resort is based on the theme of the legendary Atlantis. If you've ever wanted to add a little bit of fantasy to your vacation and step into another world, this is the place to go.

The Atlantis Attractions

The main attraction at Atlantis is the 63 acre water park called "Adventure." This water attraction is one of the largest in the world and no other Caribbean hotels have anything like it. It consists of water slides and a mile long river ride that you can explore on colorful inner tubes.

You'll go through rapids and waves that take you through the resort. The unique thing about this water ride is that once you're in your inner tube, you don't ever have to leave it. Adventure's technology moves you along with the power of water alone.

At the center of the complex is the "Power Tower". This "Tower" has four thrilling water slides and uses jets of water to move you up and down the slides at breath taking speeds. The Power Tower is 120 feet tall, making it twice as high as the Mayan Temple also situated on the resort's property. The Power Tower's slides include:

* The Abyss; a 200 foot body slide.

* The Drop; which starts at the river and brings you along through the Tower while you're in your inner tube and then drops you down through the center of the Tower.

* The Falls; consisting of a 58 foot drop.

* The Surge; starts at the very top of the Tower and takes you up and down camel back drops before plunging you into the water.

* The Current; the mile long river ride.

* Climber's Rush; combining rock climbing and a tidal wave pool.

Shark filled lagoons, lush tropical jungles and exciting water slides are a part of the Mayan Temple. This fantastic structure combines the mystery of the pyramids in the jungles of Mexico with the fun of a water park.

Other Caribbean hotels do not have this attraction - the Atlantis hotel has "Dolphin Cay", one of the largest dolphin habitats in the world. There are also interactive coves where you can get close to the dolphins. At the Royal Towers, you will find the Ruins Lagoon aquarium.

This aquarium is set up with many Atlantean "artifacts" and views of tropical fish that most people would never get a chance to see. Atlantis also has five other Lagoons that offer spectacular views of sharks, sting rays and rare tropical fish.

Atlantis has an extensive sports center which includes a weight room, lap pool and pro shop. The Ocean Club has a lovely course for the golfing enthusiast. If you're traveling with the kids, sign them up for the Atlantis Kids Club. The Morning and Afternoon Escapes are for kids 3-5 years old, and the Evening Escape is for kids 3- 12.

Their Aqua Tots offers your toddlers the opportunity feed the fish, but be sure to register your child early, only five children are selected on a daily basis for this experience. Keep in mind that on all the rides and the Aqua Tots that there are height restrictions involved. Your child has to be at least 48 inches tall to participate. Do other Caribbean hotels offer all of these attractions? Quite possibly not.

Passport Issues When Visiting Caribbean Hotels

Don't let the new passport requirements get you down either. Other Caribbean hotels offer amenities, but the Atlantis goes above and beyond. For a short time Atlantis is offering to pay for your family's passports. Call the resort or visit their interactive website for more details.

Sample Hotel Reservation Letter - What to Include and Why

Just follow the steps in this sample hotel reservation letter structure and you should have no unexpected troubles.

Before you begin:

Hotel reservation letters can vary in style, But just make sure you give the reservation staff all the information they need to make sure there are no misunderstandings or disappointments on arrival.

Every specific piece of information should be in a separate paragraph. This makes for easier reading.

Keep it short and sweet (it's not an essay), and don't forget the following information:

1. Opening (example):

Dear Sir/Madam

My name is (your name) and I would like to book a (type of room) in your hotel for (number) nights.

2. Dates and times: (important)

I/We will be arriving on (date, including the day of the week) at approximately (time). Departure will be on (date, including the day of the week) at (time).

Notes: -State the date and approximate time of arrival and departure because it helps the staff know which guests will be arriving first to prepare the way for them, so waiting time for your room is kept to a minimum.

-It's always a good idea to also include how many nights you will be staying in brackets. This is a good way for the reservation staff to double check the length of your stay as hotels count nights and not days when preparing your invoice.

-Remember, even if you arrive there at 2 o'clock in the morning, that night counts and you are seldom entitled to remain in your room after 12 o'clock noon on your departure date.

3. Number of people: (important)

How many adults? How many children? (always include children's ages).

4. Room type(s) and preferred location(s):

Single, double, suite, ground floor, top floor, overlooking the sea, etc.

5. Board preferences: (important)

Self catering/bed & breakfast/half board/full board/all-inclusive

Note: make sure the hotel you are considering has the services you desire as not all hotels offer things like all-inclusive, and what you get for each type of service may vary from one hotel or country to another depending on their policies (find out before making your reservation to avoid disappointments).

6. Special needs/desires: (optional)

Some people may have health conditions which may require special attention (migraine sufferers would probably want a quiet room far away from any entertainment facilities, for example). Business men/women may need an internet connection in their rooms, while others may just have special preferences (overlooking the sea, rooms on upper floors, etc). These should be specified in your letter.

Note: Obviously the needs of those with medical conditions will be given more importance than other preferences if the hotel is fully booked, so don't be surprised if you cannot get what you wanted unless you have the option and have paid for it specifically.

7. Facilities: (depending on the hotel)

If there are special facilities (sauna, jacuzzi, etc.) which need to be reserved before using them, you may wish to do so in advance to avoid waiting.

8. Contact information: (important)

Especially your phone number, cell phone and/or fax number.

*The main thing to remember is to include all the important information above and keep the hotel reservation letter short. The hotel staff prefer it that way and it helps to avoid confusion. You can even use bullet text to display the information.

Themed Rooms at The Palms, Las Vegas

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Pony up $25,000 a night and you can stay at the Basketball-themed Hardwood Suite which features three "NBA sized" Murphy beds, a basketball court with your name written on the court itself, NBA-quality locker room with personalized jerseys for everybody in your group. Some notable celebrities that have stayed in this room include wrestler Hulk Hogan, Carmen Electra, Chris Webber and Dennis Rodman.

Basketball not your thing? Perhaps you would like to check out one of the many other unique suites such as the G-Suite which takes its design cues from the Palm's Ghost Bar, a nightclub on the 55th floor with views of the pool below through a special glass floor. The suite features a similar glass floor along with a live television feed of the action below, available for between $3,000 to $5,000 a night.

Other high-end suites include the Sky Villas with up to 9,000 square feet each with their own indoor-outdoor swimming pools that actually overhang the side of the building and have a glass end wall for maximum viewing, and the Erotica Suite which features a round rotating bed and obligatory stripper pole. I'm surprised none of the suites feature a champaign glass shaped Jacuzzi!

The Palms Hotel has been catering to celebrities since it first opened in late 2001. In 2002, it was the resort where participants of MTV's The Real World: Las Vegas stayed, and the hotel features its own world class recording studio where artists like Lil' Jon, The Killers, Michael Buble, Britney Spears and Vegas favorite Celine Dion can lay down a few tracks before hitting the town. Even if you aren't a rock star, you can still live out your rock and roll fantasy at the Palms. For an undisclosed fee, somewhere in the tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars, the hotel will arrange a "Music Fantasy" which entails having your favorite band come to the studio and record a song with you.

George Maloof, owner of the Palms Hotel recently described the "Music Fantasy" experience in a recent interview with ABC radio host Al Mancini.

He Said "We will fly a private jet to pick you up wherever in the US and you and 10 of your friends and we put you up here in the suites and you get to record with your favorite artist and eat at the finest restaurants and you stay here for 3 nights and then you get bragging rights with your CD."

But the Palms' signature suite is the new Hugh Hefner Sky Villa on the 34th floor of the Fantasy Tower. This amazing suite comes decorated with Playboy artwork selected by Mr. Hefner himself. The outdoor Jacuzzi features the Playboy logo prominently and seats you and 24 of your closest friends.

Other features of this 9,000 square foot room include a glass elevator, steam room, an exercise room, full wet bar, pop-up plasma TV's, electronically controlled drapes, a fireplace, and poker table, and even its very own private spa. All this for only $40,000 a night.

This scenic splendor, matched with a gentle climate and wildlife make Masai Mara the most famous inland destination park in Kenya. For accommodations, you don't need to go too far because there are lots of 5-star to 2-star Masai Mara hotels you can choose from.

During the day, as you tour National Reserve, a must try activity is their balloon safari. After a fine trip, a champagne breakfast awaits you along with an experience you'll never forget.

Masai Mara Hotels

As National Reserve continues to attract visitors going to Kenya, more and more tourists are looking for other options for lodging. Although there are a lot of hotels in Nairobi, the more popular accommodations now are Camp sites wherein, these are either very close to the national park or it is already set on the park premises. Hotels in Park are actually really few so the best option is to book into popular camp accommodations like Masai Leisure Camp and Beleleur Camp.

However, when you get unlucky and find yourself in a hotel room that is not well maintained, dirty, and even smelly, this can ruin the whole experience. It can taint vacations, make you miserable, and even interfere with your ability to relax.

Finding a clean hotel room

But there are easy ways to avoid filthy hotel rooms. First and most important, you can check online reviews. Any reputable hotel should have at least a few reviews online. If not, this should raise warning flags. Of course, there are some countries where the internet doesn't have such a large role in people's lives, so there will probably be fewer reviews, but if you're going somewhere that you know is well-traveled and plugged in, try to find those places with abundant reviews.

Of course, any time you look at the reviews for something, there are going to be a certain number of people who give positive reviews based on nothing. In many cases, people just write online reviews of things, for whatever reason, even though they've never even been there. So look for the reviews that go into real detail about the place.

Meanwhile, it can be quite illuminating to skip straight to the negative reviews. You may come across a few people talking about something that really bothers you (for example, mold in the bathroom), but which doesn't necessarily bother everyone. On the other hand, every business has a misstep here or there, so if a hotel only has one or two bad reviews, you need not take them as gospel.

What if you end up in a dirty hotel room?

In spite of your best efforts, there's always a chance that you're going to end up in a dirty hotel room no matter what you do. If this is the case, and if you don't have time or money to go to a nearby hotel that is actually clean, there are certain things you can do.

First, get rid of the comforter on your bed. As soon as you get in the room, throw the comforter in the corner and leave it there. This is because many corner-cutting hotels feel that they don't have to wash the comforter between every customer. Yes, they will give you clean sheets (and if they don't, you're really in trouble), but they may have no qualms about giving you the same blanket that the last guest used, which is just icky.

Second, there are certain hotspots that tend to collect germs. The big ones are the doorknobs, the telephone, the remote control, the light switches, and the drawer handles. If you sense that your room is dirty, wash these things immediately. If you don't have any cleaning supplies, some hot water and a towel will do. And if you want to be bold, track down a housekeeping staff member, tell them your room is dirty, and ask for some spray cleaner.

Hotel Overbooking - What Can You Do?

Hotels may offer excuses that they have to oversell to make up for the losses from the growing number of travelers who make reservations but never keep them. They may tell you that some guests did not check out as planned, or that certain rooms require repairs or renovations. Many states can now impose fines against hotels that regularly overbook. Unlike airlines, hotels have no right to confirm more rooms than they have available.

In very rare cases, two hotels may work together in bait and switch tactics, accepting your overbooking at one hotel so that you can be referred, at your expense, to a more expensive hotel down the street. The second hotel then shares a portion of the revenue with the first. If this happens to you, you should immediately file a complaint with the attorney general of the state in which the hotel is located.

If you have a confirmed or guaranteed reservation and you have met all of the conditions of the reservation, such as arriving on time, the hotel is required to take every reasonable step to take care of you.

When a hotel has overbooked, follow these suggestions to assist in getting a room.

Remain at the front desk and firmly demand a room. Do not agree to step aside so other guests can be checked in. This makes you a less pressing problem for the hotel. Standing your ground makes you more of a problem and thereby increases the chances of the hotel resolving your problem quickly to avoid a scene.

Ask immediately to speak with the front desk manager or the general manager - someone with the authority to make decisions to take care of you.

Don't lose your temper. Instead, be polite but insistent. Regardless of the excuses you may be given, the best question you can ask over and over again is "I understand there's an overbooking problem, but what will you do to get me a room right away?" Remember, this is not your fault and the hotel should never have let it happen.

Don't be afraid to ask for what you want. Suggest that the hotel put you in a more expensive room or suite at the guaranteed room rate. The hotel might also provide you with additional discounts, restaurant vouchers, or other incentives. If any of these happen, always remember to check your credit card statements to be sure you were not charged the inflated rates and as always, keep your receipts.

Let the hotel know that you understand your rights. Write down names and titles of all the hotel staff you deal with on the issue, as well as the reasons or excuses they give you for the overbooking.

Be flexible and creative. Ask the manager if he or she has other options available, like staff rooms, rooms that are not yet made up, or even a rollaway bed inside a meeting room (at a greatly discounted rate, obviously).

You will have much stronger rights with a guaranteed reservation than with a confirmed one, since you have literally guaranteed payment for the room. If the hotel does not hold a room for you, it has breached its contract with you and must take all reasonable steps to secure you a similar room within the hotel or a comparable (or better) hotel nearby. The hotel may be required to pay for the first night's lodging at a nearby hotel (called walking), provide free transportation to the other hotel, pay the difference in rates (if the other hotel is more expensive) for the remaining nights of your reservation and/or arrange a long-distance phone call to let your family and/or your office where you are now staying.

Many of these services may not be offered voluntarily, so be prepared to insist, politely but firmly, on fair compensation for the hotel's overbooking mistake.

Top 5 Most Expensive Luxury Hotel Rooms

Everyone has a personal record for the amount they've spent on a hotel room. Whether it was for a one-off treat or just because everywhere else in town was full, most people have sampled a luxury hotel at one point or another. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it hurts. In either case, when the bill came, you probably didn't want to look!

But for the super rich, the cost of our so-called luxury accommodation is just part of the package. All around the world, luxury hotel suites are designed to cater to this elite, with every imaginable feature, priceless furnishings, lavish service, and a price to match. These boutique hotels are the playgrounds of the rich and famous when they travel abroad - celebrities, millionaires, pop stars, heads of state and royalty are the most frequent residents...Some of them pay and others are invited. Here are five of the most expensive luxury hotel suites in the world.

Presidential Suite, Hotel Martinez

Price: $18,500 a night

Cannes is Europe's answer to Hollywood, so it's no surprise that it contains a luxury hotel suite with this kind of price tag. Decorated in an Art Deco style, it measures 8,000 square feet in total. The wraparound terrace (which can hold over 100 people) is 2000 square feet on its own, and has views of the entire Bay of Cannes. Other features include a Turkish bath, personal sauna, 24 hour on call butler and a free bar - though breakfast is not included in your bill.

Guests at this famous hotel have included Jodie Foster, Francis Ford Coppola and Monica Belluci. One Saudi sheik liked the Presidential Suite so much that he wanted to hire it out for five years. The hotel, confident of being able to fill the suite in spite of its price, refused his request.

Imperial Suite, President Wilson Hotel, Geneva

Price: $23,000 a night

You pay for security as much as luxury at this famous hotel suite in Geneva. Positioned next to the United Nations Headquarters and designed for traveling heads of state, the Imperial Suite features bullet proof glass and bedside alarm buttons, and can only be reached by a private elevator.

With views of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, the suite contains five bathrooms, four bedrooms, a cocktail lounge, a library, its own Steinway grand piano and a mahogany dining table that can comfortably seat 26 guests. It costs approximately $23,000 a night. Breakfast is not included but the service can't be argued with - when one guest requested a bed that could not fit in the lift, the hotel hired a crane to get it in the bedroom.

The Bridge Suite, Atlantis Hotel, Paradise Island

Price: $25,000 a night

The Bridge Suite sits on top of the bridge that connects the two Royal Towers in this resort on the aptly named Paradise Island. For $25,000 a night you get your own butler, entertainment centre, 50-foot bar lounge, marble baths and a décor described as conveying "regal majesty" by the hotel staff. For regal majesty, read lots of gilded mirrors and windows, golden sofas, and a ten-foot four-poster bed with hand-painted linen sheets. Subdued and tasteful it isn't, but if you like to see some eye-watering opulence in your five figure luxury hotel suite, this may be the one for you.

Ty Warner Penthouse, Four Seasons Hotel, New York

Price: $30,000

This boutique hotel spared no expense when it came to furnishing the penthouse on its 52nd floor. Gold thread curtains, walls inlaid with mother of pearl, onyx bathroom floors, and even a shark skin coffee table are all part of the package here, along with stunning views over Manhattan and even a waterfall in the so-called Zen room. For those who like a little more than the standard room service, this luxury hotel suite comes with unlimited treatments from an in-house masseuse, a butler on 24 hour duty and a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce.

Hugh Hefner Sky Villa, Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas

Price: $40,000

Perhaps it's no surprise that Hugh Hefner's name is attached to the ultimate in luxury hotel decadence. At a jaw dropping $40,000 a night, the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa is the world's most expensive hotel suite, located (appropriately enough) in the Fantasy Tower of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Amongst the eccentric extras are an eight foot revolving bed with ceiling mirrors, an indoor waterfall, an exercise room, sauna, and a terrace pool projecting out over the edge of the Fantasy Tower with the Playboy Bunny logo stamped firmly in the center.

How to Find the Best Poker Room in Vegas

The only constant is change when it comes to playing poker in Las Vegas, with dozens of new rooms opening in recent years, and the classic reliables undergoing changes just to keep up. If you are staying in a casino/hotel, chances are your casino has a poker room, and if you just want to play, that might be your best choice. It does not matter where you play, just enjoy and max out the experience. You can start with these choices below:

The Bellagio Poker Room
Although not as far ahead as it once was, the Bellagio is still the epicenter of the Las Vegas Poker scene. Quite a few major poker events are held here on a regular basis. You will find skill levels that diverge extensively at the lower levels, with the top levels about as hard as any of the poker rooms out here. Bring your best game if you are coming to the Bellagio to play.

Binion's Poker Room
This is the pioneer in poker play in these parts, with a long 34 years of history hosting the World Series of Poker.
Pictures of each world champion from 1970 to 2005 are prominently placed. If these walls could talk, poker fans would never stop listening. The current poker room hosts many daily tournaments, and always has no limit games in play. Go and play poker here, just so you can say you did.

Caesars Palace Poker Room
The Caesars Palace poker room is so large it can host up to 1,000 players at any time. The atmosphere in the room is not great, as they basically converted an old convention room into the new poker room. The room is off the casino floor, which some players like, as there are very few external distractions. For followers of low-limit buy-in tournaments, Caesars has some of the finest blind structures of any casino in town. Be ready to play in 8 hour marathons, which works for the good players since it gives them more time to trash their opponents.

Venetian Poker Room
One of the newer kids in town is the poker room at the Venetian, and this kid is working hard. The room gives you special parking and excellent comp perks, and has hosted the legendary "Big Game" in the past. This is the biggest game in town where the elite of the elite get together to exchange hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of a night. The room has an experienced poker staff. It also offers tableside dining service, which you can hardly ever find anywhere else. This room is also noted for the Deep Stack Series that is held several times a year.

MGM Grand Poker Room
This room, while relatively classier than most, is host to daily poker sessions where you can find players that are weaker than average. The crowd is mostly tourists and recreational players, and the atmosphere is usually friendly and more relaxed compared to the other rooms.

The Mirage Poker Room
This used to be rated as the top joint to play, and although the Bellagio and the Venetian has surpassed it, it's still pretty decent room to play poker. The casino has been upgraded and the recent addition of the Beatles/Cirque Du Soleil show, has given it a classier atmosphere. The daily tournaments still attract a good number of players.

Wynn Las Vegas Poker Room
The Wynn Poker Room is relatively new, upscale and a nice place to play. Most of the action seems to be at the lower levels, but you will occasionally find some of the bigger players in town plying their craft here. If you are staying in the hotel, you can put yourself on a waiting list for a game while you relax in your room - and monitor your position on the list from your room instead of sitting in the poker room chomping to get into the game. Tournaments are hosted daily mostly at noon and pools range from $300 to $500 buy in.

Red Rock Poker Room
The Red Rock poker room has become very popular with locals. The room is high tech with the dealers having the ability to view a screen with all of the player names. It's a little odd at first to have the dealer call you by name, but it's a nice touch. In addition, the room has automated tracking technology, which makes sure that an unfilled seat does not remain that way for long. You also get food service at the table, which is a nice touch.

The Rio
The Rio is notable in that it hosts poker's finest in the World Series of Poker each year. The Poker room has gotten a recent face lift and hosts daily tournaments that are quite popular. Check the schedule, and if you want to play against poker's best in the WSOP, the Rio is the place to do it.

Note: At any given time, you will probably find at least one active low-limit hold 'em game running at any given poker room. However, if you want to play Stud or any other game, it is recommended that you call ahead and see if your game of choice is being offered. Also, keep in mind if you and your friends want to play draw just like you do at home - ask! It's possible the room may provide you a dealer, as long as you pay the time charge. Plan in advance and know which game you want to play, many rooms have a board on the wall describing the games in action at that time.

There's No Place Like Rome

What started as a quaint village on the banks of the Tiber became the greatest empire the world has ever known. Rome has been called "the Eternal City" for its resiliency against wars, corruption, disasters, and time. Walk the streets of this ancient metropolis and feel the past come alive. As you stand in the Forum you can practically see Julius Caesar and Cicero appear before your very eyes. Rome's ancient past is not her only allure. Rome is the epitome of romance, in fact, the word "romance" is derived from "Rome". Wander the seemingly endless streets, past fountains, and jutting ruins and you will see that love is in the very air of Rome. You cannot help but be swept away by it. Visit Rome and see why it has been a favorite for lovers for thousands of years.

These days there are alternatives to hotel rooms and fast-paced tours. You can now easily rent an apartment in Italy for prices cheaper than a hotel. Rent an apartment near the fashionable Via Condotti and walk from the Spanish Steps to the House of Valentino. Are you a history lover? Apartment rentals on Petrocelli will place you with walking distance of the Coliseum, Circus Maximus, the Forum and Palatine Hill. Maybe you're a fan of architecture. Rent an apartment near the beautiful Altare della Patria or the medieval Trastavere. With so many available apartment rentals in Rome there is no reason not to take this opportunity to visit Italy. For the price of a Disney vacation or week at the beach you can breathe the Roman air and perhaps even find romance at the Fountain de Trevi.

Booking A Hotel Room As A Single Person

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Did you know that last year alone, 20% of All holiday makers in the United Kingdom travelled alone? The market for individual holiday makers and travellers is now a very significant part of the travel industry, although often when you look about for good deals for single travellers you would be forgiven for thinking that the reverse was true.

Indeed, it is often the case that people going on holiday alone are penalised for their decision or circumstances, and end up having to pay supplements that leave their bill very little short of what it would have been had they gone on holiday with someone else. It is true, of course, that if 20% of holiday makers are travelling on their own, this means that the vast majority, 80%, are those travelling either as a couple or as a family or other group. Clearly hotels and other holiday accommodation need to cater for the majority of their customers, and so most hotel rooms are equipped with double beds.

A single individual booking a hotel room which has a double bed is effectively taking up two potential spaces that the hotel could have filled, and this could be considered as losing the hotel money. At busy times of the year it is highly probable that by letting a room out to someone staying on their own, they are losing a paying customer, since it is likely that they could just as easily have let the room out to a couple who would each have paid for the room. It isn't just the room costs of course. The hotel will take into consideration that a couple are far more likely to buy drinks at the bar, eat in the restaurant and generally spend much more money than the individual. This represents a considerable loss, and so by charging a supplement for the individual traveller, they recoup at least part of this loss and make the blow a little less painful.

Despite this seeming to be a terribly unfair way of doing business, at the end of the day, it is exactly that - a business. Let's not fool ourselves into thinking that hotels are purely there for our holidaying pleasure. They're there to make money, end of story.

Of course, it is less painful for the hotel if a single traveller is using a double room, but not occupying this at the loss of a couple, since many rooms are vacant, and other customers won't have to be turned away. In this way, choosing to stay at a time of year that is less popular for couples, such as holiday seasons, or special events, will decrease the chance, or at least the cost, of any such individual supplement.

If a hotel insists on charging you this extra fee, then look into the idea of getting something in return - possible a free upgrade, or breakfast thrown in? If they refuse to meet you part way on this, then it may be worth looking around and finding a hotel which is more amenable. It may well be that the hotel decides at that point that one paying guest is at least something, and offers you something in return.

Traveling to Las Vegas on a Budget

In the 80's and 90's, Las Vegas was known for great dining values with $5.99 all-you-can-eat Prime Rib Dinner buffets, low cost rooms at some of the most well known hotels in the world and discount show prices. Times have certainly changed around here since then.

The Las Vegas Strip has become the playground for the 20-Something Internet/Finance/Real Estate movers and shakers with deep pockets and party attitude. Strip hotels now cater to them with lavish hotel rooms with High Speed Internet access, Big Screen Plasma TVs, Ipod docks, and every other imaginable gadget available.

Million Dollar "Ultra-Lounges" have sprung up in most major hotels with celebrity owners like Jay-Z, Nicky Hilton, Nick Lachey, and Wilmer Valderama hosting big name Hollywood and Sports celebrities every night.

Ever tried to book a room on a weekend in Las Vegas in the past 5 years? Almost certainly you were going to pay a premium, especially if there was any kind of live sporting event or event of any kind in the city, especially on holiday weekends.

Off-Season really doesn't exist anymore; at one time you could come to Las Vegas in November and December and save a bundle on everything, except maybe your food expenses. Rooms went for below normal rates and shows were always having 2-for-1 specials to get you in the door.

The absolute key to saving your hard earned cash in Las Vegas is to plan ahead, Way ahead! You can save hundreds of dollars on hotel rooms, shows and dining if you do your research ahead of time.
